About the position

The Advanced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Combustor at GE Aerospace is responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, and delivery of hardware for the development testing of next-generation narrow body jet engines. This role involves working with a team to design combustor hardware and ensuring that contract requirements are met while contributing to the advancement of aviation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Work with a closely integrated team of engineers and scientists to design the next generation of jet engine turbomachinery.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing organizations to deliver hardware for rig, core, and full engine testing.
• Serve as the technical lead of a team of engineers to design and manufacture combustors for demonstrator programs.
• Develop and implement plans to ensure that contract requirements are fulfilled.
• Lead efforts to solve both technical and schedule related problems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other personnel.
• Present work to subject matter experts and program leaders at technical reviews.
• Ensure work is thoroughly documented.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
• At least 5 additional years of engineering experience in hot static hardware such as combustor, case, flow path structure, after burner, and/or frame.

Nice-to-haves

• 6+ years of experience in the design, analysis, manufacture or testing of structural or hot gas propulsion components.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
• Established project management skills.
