About the position

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Process Engineer - Controls at Trane Technologies is responsible for designing and developing manufacturing processes and systems that meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements. This role focuses on integrating specialized processes into a lean manufacturing environment, particularly for HVAC chillers, and involves collaboration with various teams to enhance manufacturability and product integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, implement, and execute manufacturing process systems using automation controls, sensors, and database connectivity.
  • Work with vendors and equipment manufacturers to validate, run-off, and install process systems.
  • Conduct process qualification activities to ensure processes meet specifications and create necessary documentation.
  • Manage and improve manufacturing standards for controls, testing, and equipment.
  • Lead projects and develop processes for manufacturing HVAC chillers.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative, cost-effective, and safe manufacturing processes.
  • Develop manufacturing planning, tooling requirements, capability requirements, and control plans.
  • Provide technical expertise for resolving manufacturing process and product design issues.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing flows, workstation layouts, and controls to optimize operations and quality.
  • Collaborate with functional team members to enhance design for manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant manufacturing work experience required.
  • Experience with automation equipment, sensors, and tooling.
  • Proven experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming/implementation.
  • Experience in Oracle and SQL Database development at a process level.
  • Experience in OPC connectivity and setup for equipment interconnectivity.
  • Basic understanding of test system functionality or programming.
  • Experience in commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting process and test equipment.
  • Ability to read and review equipment drawings (P&ID, electrical system diagrams, mechanical layout diagrams).
  • Understanding of mechanical systems in automated industrial applications.
