About the position

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in providing medical services within a primary care clinic, collaborating closely with family medicine or internal medicine physicians. This position is centered around delivering general and preventative care, conducting thorough check-ups, treating various illnesses, ordering necessary lab tests, and prescribing medications for both children and adults. The nurse practitioner will be responsible for a comprehensive approach to patient care, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care. A significant aspect of this role involves advising patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, as well as providing case management when necessary. In this position, the nurse practitioner will conduct detailed medical histories and perform complete physical examinations as required. They will initiate appropriate lab and radiology tests, scrutinizing lab data for both new and returning patients to establish a current health status and develop effective working diagnoses and treatment plans. The nurse practitioner will provide primary care services according to the schedule established by Genesis Healthcare System and will work collaboratively with physicians when applicable. The role also includes performing routine outpatient procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, as well as managing simple conditions resulting from infections or trauma. The nurse practitioner may prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by their prescriptive authority and will ensure continuity of care by acting as a liaison between patients and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team. Participation in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans is essential to assure high-quality care. To maintain competence in their specialty, the nurse practitioner is expected to attend professional conventions or seminars and participate in educational activities offered by professional societies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations as indicated.
  • Initiate appropriate lab, radiology tests, or other specialized tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Scrutinize lab data on new and former clinic patients to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Provide primary care services on the days and at times established and scheduled by Genesis Healthcare System.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians when applicable.
  • Perform routine outpatient procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Manage simple conditions produced by infection or trauma and assist in the management of more complex illness and injury as privileged by the Genesis Credentialing Board.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and Genesis Credentialing Board.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patients and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
  • Participate in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes periodically to assure quality care.
  • Maintain competence in specialty by attending professional conventions or seminars and participating in educational activities offered by professional societies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited APRN training program.
  • Current Ohio RN and APRN licensure.
  • Must have a current certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Family Medicine or Internal Medicine experience preferred.
  • Required Certifications: BLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire. ACLS or PALS may be required based upon practice setting.
