About the position

The position involves providing medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks within a healthcare setting. The role emphasizes outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations. The pharmacy technician will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and supporting the effective daily operation of pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medications.
  • Manage inventory and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Respond accurately to medication dispensing requests.
  • Prepare medications for pharmacist final review/check.
  • Deliver checked medications and return unused or expired medications to appropriate areas.
  • Participate in the utilization of medication automation and technology.
  • Maintain proficiency in hospital and pharmacy-specific computer systems.
  • Accurately complete medication inventories and prepare patient-specific medication doses.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • One year of hospital pharmacy experience (retail or ambulatory experience acceptable).
  • Pharmacy Intern status.
  • Sterile Compounding & Aseptic Technique-IV Certification Course.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician status.
  • Applicable State Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPT) or valid State Pharmacist Intern license if applicable.
  • Sterile Compounding Certification, if applicable per state legislation.
