About the position

The Advanced Planning Sales Counselor - Outside Sales Representative at Carriage Services is responsible for assisting families in making pre-need funeral and cremation arrangements. This role emphasizes exceeding client expectations through compassionate service and effective communication. The position allows for flexible scheduling and the opportunity to earn competitive compensation based on sales performance.

Responsibilities

• Meet with client families on a pre-need basis to present options for funeral and cremation services and related merchandise.
• Work independently to solicit new leads, referrals, and sales opportunities away from the location.
• Create and make sales with minimal supervision, spending no more than 20% of time at the office.
• Establish professional relationships with client families to ensure all needs are met.
• Represent the company professionally, maintaining a caring demeanor and ethical standards.
• Develop new prospects and community contacts through cold calling, seminars, and referrals.
• Maintain positive communication with all departments to ensure a smooth service process for families.
• Participate in required training initiatives and report progress to the Sales Manager.
• Adhere to pricing structures and complete all paperwork accurately and timely.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or college degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of sales experience.
• Proven track record of success in outside sales production strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bilingual is a plus.
• Strong telephone, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• High level of compassion and integrity.
• Independent, self-reliant, and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and manage appointments.
