About the position
The Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) in Oncology at Optum Tri-State NY is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment. This role involves supervising patients receiving infusions, educating new patients about treatment, and conducting follow-up visits. The position emphasizes flexibility in patient visit hours and does not require overnight or weekend shifts, allowing for a balanced work-life experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervising and evaluating patients receiving infusions in infusion centers.
- Conducting visits with new patients to educate them on treatment side effects and schedules.
- Providing survivorship visits to furnish patients with treatment summaries and educate them on follow-up recommendations after treatment completion.
- Conducting follow-up office visits with patients on observation or receiving oral therapy.
- Managing same-day visits with patients who call with new complaints during treatment.
- Seeing clinical trial patients for their treatment and visits after completing clinical trial training.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing with advanced skills in physical assessment or a Bachelor's degree with a certificate from an AMA-approved physician assistant program.
- Current unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse in NYS or PA.
- Possession of state and federal Controlled Substance Registration or ability to obtain before starting employment.
- At least one year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification.
