About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APN or PA) in Urology at the University of Chicago will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to patients with complex urologic conditions. This role involves utilizing advanced clinical skills for assessment, evaluation, treatment, and medical management across various clinic sites, including Hyde Park, Tinley Park, River East, and South Loop.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains medical histories and performs physical assessments.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribes appropriate treatments.
  • Screens patients.
  • Facilitates care in collaboration with the surgeons.
  • Makes referrals to other disciplines as necessary.
  • Participates in the management of outpatient clinics as appropriate.
  • Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
  • Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient's plan of care.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required.
  • Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).

Nice-to-haves

  • An advanced degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.
  • Clinical experience in a related area of specialty.
  • Current Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
  • Current Physician Assistant license/registration in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
  • Certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) by start date.
