About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Behavioral Health Primary Care at Tampa General Hospital is responsible for delivering general and specialty medical services with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of acute and chronic conditions. This role allows for both autonomous and collaborative practice within the established scope, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in managing complex psychiatric cases.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily primary care assessments and maintain associated documentation following evidence-based practices.
  • Perform primary care consultations and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with primary and behavioral health care teams to manage complex patients with psychiatric illnesses.
  • Request, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and laboratory tests, taking appropriate actions as indicated by departmental protocols.
  • Identify and report specific signs, symptoms, or problems requiring further assessment or intervention to promote positive health outcomes.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to diagnose and manage clients' health care issues.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida.
  • Family Nurse Practitioner Certification or Physician Assistant Certification.
  • Experience in primary care or family medicine is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
