About the position
MUSC Health - PeeDee Division - Marion Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). This role involves providing direct patient care in the Emergency Department, managing a diverse patient population from ages 13 to death, and requires a strong background in emergency medicine. The position is hourly and non-exempt, with a commitment of 40 hours per week, and involves collaboration with supervising physicians.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
- Evaluates and treats patients based on diagnostic test results and clinical guidelines.
- Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
- Documents and bills for direct care provided to patients.
- Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
- Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
- Maintains professional practice through participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Potentially precepts students enrolled as advanced practice provider students.
- Performs therapeutic procedures as per procedural privileges and skill proficiency.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for adult inpatient positions.
- At least 2 years of Emergency Room experience as a PA or NP.
