About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work in the UNC Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis outpatient clinic, contributing to the care of patients with various hematological conditions. The role involves collaboration with a supervising physician and participation in the Hematology APP group, performing procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. The APP is expected to provide high-quality, cost-effective care while adhering to the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain relevant health and medical history and perform thorough physical assessments.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing pharmacological agents and scheduling follow-ups.
  • Conduct preventive health screenings based on patient needs and maintain comprehensive records of patient care.
  • Educate clients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and staff to promote continuity of care and develop educational materials.
  • Provide instruction and training to physicians, nursing staff, and students.
  • Engage in community outreach programs and lead initiatives to improve healthcare delivery.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement processes and consult with management on clinical issues.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina.
  • Board certification if required by the Department.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and effective leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hematology/oncology experience preferred.
