About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider in Primary Care at Norton Sound Health Corporation is responsible for delivering patient and family-focused medical care to residents in Nome, Alaska. This role involves assessing, planning, and providing care under the supervision of a physician, while adhering to the organization's mission and medical standards. The provider will coordinate patient assignments, monitor care, and support physicians in delivering effective healthcare services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and provide patient care under the supervision of a physician.
  • Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations.
  • Ensure proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
  • Use the appropriate process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation when assessing the patients' condition and needs.
  • Ensure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost-effective manner, and discharge planning is carried out as prescribed by the physician.
  • Participate in facilitating patient and family learning, reinforcing continued patient health care through teaching and/or referral to community agency follow-up.
  • Demonstrate ability to care for various patient populations including medical, critically ill, traumatically injured, mental health, emergency, maternal/neonate, and pediatric patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Licensed to practice as a Midlevel in the State of Alaska.
  • NCCPA, PALS, Medivac, ACLS and BLS certification/registration; DEA#.
  • Must maintain a current collaborating agreement with Physician or Physicians on NSHC Medical Staff.
