About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) at the Foley Cancer Center plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care across various settings, including the cancer clinic, inpatient care, emergency room, and telehealth. This position emphasizes collaboration with physicians and nursing staff to ensure patient and family-centered care, with a focus on providing high-quality healthcare services under the guidance of the Medical Director.

Responsibilities

  • Provide healthcare services to patients following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtain detailed patient history and perform physical or psychological examinations.
  • Perform or order diagnostic procedures such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, and interpret results.
  • Administer therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Assist physicians during surgeries or medical procedures.
  • Instruct patients on therapeutic regimens, home care, and health maintenance.
  • Evaluate outcomes of direct patient care and consult with specialists as needed.
  • Maintain required records and write progress notes on patient charts regarding status, treatments, and procedures.
  • Provide preventative health care services to long-term patients and arrange consultations and referrals.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or a graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant educational program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience in a specialty area such as Pain Management, Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatrics, Endocrinology, or Oncology.
  • Licensed with the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation with advanced certification by a national certifying organization recognized by the Vermont Nursing Board.
  • Licensed by the Vermont Medical Board with certification by a national certifying organization recognized by the Vermont Medical Board.
  • Unit-specific certifications as required (ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC).
  • Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification based on department-specific guidelines.
