About the position

The Advanced Process Control Engineer at Rockwell Automation plays a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes through advanced analytics and model predictive control applications. This position involves assessing customer processes, developing mathematical models, and configuring online applications to optimize product quality, production capacity, and energy usage. The engineer will be responsible for the full technical implementation of projects, from design to commissioning, while ensuring compliance with safety and health requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical project activities including design, system integration, installation, data analysis, modeling, and application development.
  • Identify technical issues impacting project performance such as scope creep and delays.
  • Provide information related to project cost performance and application performance metrics.
  • Document best practices for application development.
  • Comply with customer safety and health requirements, including drug tests and safety training.
  • Provide product, engineering, and application support to existing customers.
  • Conduct periodic system and application health checks and performance analyses, documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Follow up on recommendations to maximize application value for customers.
  • Support market development activities for industrial data science.
  • Participate in commercial activities for specific projects as needed.
  • Identify change orders and new opportunities within client projects.
  • Request and undertake professional development to remain billable and cost-effective.
  • Support project staffing processes to maximize overall practice margins.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, typically for 1- or 2-week trips.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in chemical engineering or related field with a focus on continuous process modeling, statistics, and/or process control.
  • 8+ years of experience as a process or control engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience implementing model predictive control applications.
  • Experience with instrumentation, industrial control systems, and supervisory control applications.
  • Experience developing business cases for advanced process control or analytics.
  • Experience with industrial and cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, OPC, and/or SQL.
  • Experience with DCS and/or PLC configuration, especially in integration with external applications.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation products.
  • Familiarity with predictive emissions monitoring systems.
  • Proficiency in another language such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
