About the position
The Advanced/Senior Commercial Sourcing Advisor at Marathon Petroleum Corporation is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize supplier relationships and ensure compliance with service and commercial terms. This role involves leading the bid package process, negotiating contracts, and analyzing data to support business strategies. The advisor will also act as a liaison between legal and business units, manage supplier performance, and identify opportunities for cost savings and risk reduction.
Responsibilities
- Develop contracting strategies to establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
- Lead the bid package process from development through purchase order execution.
- Prepare and negotiate terms and conditions related to service and/or supply agreements.
- Run benchmark studies, gather and analyze data, and make recommendations.
- Serve in an advisory role to maintain contract compliance and minimize risk.
- Foster communication internally and externally between operational functions.
- Identify opportunities for value creation and risk reduction.
- Collaborate with assigned business units to assess requirements and develop sourcing strategies.
- Facilitate issue resolution related to supplier performance.
- Utilize Supply Chain tools and collaborate with peers for process optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or Accounting is required.
- 5-8+ years of experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, or contract management.
- Working knowledge of SAP, ISNetworld, TRACK, Advanced Excel, Power BI, and ARIBA is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in commercial advisory and contract administration.
- Familiarity with total cost of ownership and should cost modeling.
