About the position

The Advanced/Senior Inventory Controller at Marathon Petroleum Company LP is responsible for managing inventory control processes to support organizational goals. This full-time position involves maintaining proper stocking levels, performing inventory reviews, optimizing inventory, and executing analysis and reports. The role requires collaboration with various teams and a strong understanding of material management programs.

Responsibilities

  • Review and replenish MRO inventory at multiple Company locations
  • Convert planned orders to purchase requisitions for sourcing
  • Schedule transfers from same plant to fulfill requirements
  • Schedule transfers from other plants to fulfill requirements
  • Convert repairable items for in-house repair or third-party repair
  • Review and convert Turnaround (TAR) and Project demand requirements at multiple Company locations
  • Support Corporate Spares program
  • Perform robust inventory reviews
  • Manage stockouts and items at risk of stockouts
  • Optimize inventory through ABC classifications and forecasting demand
  • Implement supplier stocking programs such as VMI and Consignment opportunities
  • Optimize warehouse layouts and conduct Inactive Equipment Reviews
  • Manage surplus, obsolete, and overstock materials
  • Lead inventory management continuous improvement projects
  • Provide support for Company audits as needed
  • Complete Supply Chain compliance control review assessments
  • Report on value creation (benefit captures)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or related Supply Chain discipline
  • Proficiency in SAP and Advanced Excel
  • Completion of APICS/ISM coursework related to inventory management and warehousing
  • Strong communication and partnership-building skills
  • Critical thinking and data analysis capabilities
  • Project management experience

  • Experience with warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
