About the position

We are looking for an Advanced Staff Composite Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of our innovative Engineering team. This role is pivotal in supporting the design and development of the RISE Ducted Program, focusing on polymer composites. As a key member of the Fan Advanced Mechanical Design (AMD) Team, you will have a significant impact on the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of our projects. Your contributions will help shape the team's priorities and drive the future of aerospace innovation. In this position, you will be responsible for designing composite hardware, maintaining our rigs and tests, and mentoring team members. You will engage in the design reprocess and manufacturing of prototypes necessary for future ducted demonstrators. You will execute design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and business standards. Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influencing policy formulation.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Use high levels of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct recommendations.
  • Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' opinions on particular topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in design engineering
  • Composite component design experience
