About the position

The Center School is seeking a dedicated and passionate part-time Advancement and Community Relations Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in building and managing our annual fund drive, capital campaign, stewardship, scholarships, and endowment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mission-driven progressive schools or institutions, ensuring that our initiatives align with our core values and mission. The position requires a commitment to fostering relationships within the community and enhancing the visibility and support for our school. As the Advancement and Community Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing strategies to engage alumni, parents, and community members in our fundraising efforts. You will oversee the planning and execution of events that promote our mission and encourage participation in our fundraising campaigns. This role also involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that our messaging is consistent and resonates with our audience. The position is part-time, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, and offers a hybrid work environment that includes both remote and in-person responsibilities. The anticipated start date for this role is in August or September 2024, and the salary range is between $50,000 and $65,000 (full-time equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the annual fund drive.
  • Oversee the capital campaign and stewardship efforts.
  • Manage scholarships and endowment initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to engage alumni and community members in fundraising efforts.
  • Plan and execute events to promote the school's mission and fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and outreach.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in advancement, development, and/or community relations for an independent school or nonprofit.
  • Understanding of mission-driven progressive schools or institutions.

  • Experience in managing fundraising events.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
