About the position

The Advancement Communications Specialist at Friends of KEXP plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's engagement with its audience and donors through effective communication strategies. This position involves collaborating with various teams to produce high-quality written content that articulates the mission and programming of KEXP, particularly focusing on fundraising and impact communications. The specialist will manage multiple campaigns across various platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining a strong brand presence.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a high volume of clear, engaging, and high-quality written content while meeting deadlines.
  • Create fundraising campaign and impact communications, including emails, website content, direct mail, audio and video scripts, and reports to contributors.
  • Collaborate with various teams to create and track campaign communications calendars and plans.
  • Act as an editor for Advancement content, applying best practices for branding and fundraising.
  • Utilize email marketing platforms to publish electronic communications.
  • Work with Editorial and Programming teams to ensure message alignment across communications.
  • Draft and publish copy for press materials, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain and update relevant sections of the website, including the About page and Donor Lounge.
  • Support the Advancement team during fundraising drives, including producer and communications roles.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices related to communications and fundraising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Three or more years of directly related professional experience in communications or fundraising.
  • Experience executing fundraising communications strategies, including writing solicitations.
  • Proficiency in writing and publishing software, including email marketing platforms like Marketo.
  • Strong organizational, data analysis, and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multichannel marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of KEXP programming and mission.
  • Experience applying social and racial equity concepts in communications.
