About the position

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) seeks a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our advertising team as an Advertising Media Buyer. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for media planning and buying who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of media buying strategies to promote DART's services, initiatives, and events across various media channels.
  • Research and evaluate media opportunities across traditional and digital platforms, including print, radio, television, out-of-home, social media, and online display.
  • Support negotiating and purchasing advertising space and time with media vendors, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives and budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the marketing, communications, and advertising teams, to gather campaign requirements, objectives, and target audience insights.
  • Serve as project leader on advertising-specific projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Work directly with the internal creative team and external agencies to meet project objectives, ensuring all deliverables align with the overall strategy and goals.
  • Assist in analyzing audience demographics, market trends, and competitive landscapes to identify optimal media channels and opportunities for reaching target audiences.
  • Monitor and track advertising performance metrics, including impressions, GRPs (gross rating points), CPMs (cost per thousand impressions), and conversion rates.
  • Maintain relationships with media vendors, ad agencies, and other external partners.
  • Support preparing and presenting media buying plans, recommendations, and post-campaign reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, and media consumption trends to inform your buying strategies and recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Media Buying, Advertising, or a related field, including expertise in Microsoft Excel data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in an agency setting is preferred.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver's license to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  • Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen.
  • Proficiency in PC software applications, including Microsoft Office and other related software applications.
  • Familiarity with media planning and buying tools and platforms, such as Strata or similar software, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of budget development/analysis and operational cost factors.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a desire to grow within the advertising and transportation sectors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret data and metrics to inform media buying decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
