About the position

The Advisor, Financial Analysis and Business Partnering plays a crucial role in providing financial and analytical support to Save the Children's strategic and operational planning processes. This position focuses on the annual budget processes and resource allocation decisions within Private Fundraising Teams. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, the role involves collaboration with various business units to enhance financial management reporting and operational excellence in revenue and expense planning, ultimately supporting the organization's mission to improve children's lives.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Private Fundraising teams to provide support and guidance on budget and expense transactions.
  • Prepare and present insightful Private Raise results, monitoring trends and risks in forecasted and actual results.
  • Analyze and provide feedback on Budget vs Actual (BvA) performance for revenue and expense reporting.
  • Facilitate discussions with budget owners to review variances and support decision-making with financial analysis.
  • Monitor and report on Private Fundraising new raise and revenue against strategic goals.
  • Develop and produce Agency-wide financial analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Provide support to budget holders in defining best practices for financial measurement.
  • Support the evolution of financial reporting to aid Senior Leadership Team decision-making.
  • Facilitate the development of the annual budget and bi-annual budget revisions for Private Fundraising teams.
  • Provide guidance and capacity building for the annual planning cycle.
  • Ensure integrity of budget tools and train staff on budget processes.
  • Analyze and summarize revenue and expense inputs for accurate translation into sources and uses.
  • Coordinate detailed review of business units' P&L and validate final budgets for upload into Agresso.
  • Lead the budget reflection process for annual release of temporarily restricted assets.
  • Train audiences on budget and planning matters, ensuring high client service.
  • Maintain accurate internal process documentation and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support standard management reporting processes and metrics by creating templates and reporting packages.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and planning.
  • Proven analytical skills with success in budgeting and planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in managing databases and financial management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite and English.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Not for profit finance experience.
  • Experience with Unit 4 Agresso financial system or other financial planning systems.
  • Familiarity with Power Query, Power BI, or other data management/presentation tools.
