About the position

The Advisor, Global Health Technical Proposal Writer plays a crucial role in supporting proposal research and design, serving as a lead or contributing writer for various proposal opportunities. This position focuses on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of proposal preparation processes at Jhpiego, while also crafting messages and pitches to donors to advocate for the organization's strategy. The ideal candidate is a creative, proactive professional with a growth mindset, capable of collaborating with technical and multidisciplinary teams to turn ideas into actionable proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead or supporting writer for technical narrative of new funding opportunities, ensuring proposals are cohesive and compelling.
  • Assure quality narrative following proposal-writing standards, including readability, consistency, and tone.
  • Lead and/or contribute to strategic positioning and design during the development phase of upcoming procurements.
  • Support the design lead and facilitate project design as a member of the proposal team.
  • Conceptualize and create graphics within the technical narrative, collaborating with the design lead.
  • Improve Jhpiego's approach to project design and writing to enhance competitiveness and responsiveness to donors.
  • Establish, improve, and disseminate processes, tools, and templates for proposal writers.
  • Advise on strategy and organizational positioning for future business opportunities.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects involving cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Identify factors contributing to Jhpiego's competitiveness and address gaps with proposal teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated record of writing successful proposals or products for resource mobilization efforts.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in public health project design, development, and management.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams of clinicians, public health specialists, and program managers.
  • Strong ability to articulate concise and compelling proposal narratives aligned with organizational value propositions.
  • Ability to assess narrative responsiveness to donor requirements and address gaps effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Proven knowledge of USAID and large foundation donor programming and procurement procedures.
  • Master's degree in a related technical/scientific field with in-depth subject matter knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years field experience in regions such as Africa, Asia, and/or Latin America.
