About the position

The HR Knowledge Advisor at SHRM plays a crucial role in supporting Human Resource professionals by providing expert guidance and resources in response to HR-related inquiries. This position involves developing HR-related content, contributing to SHRM Certification exam and training development, and promoting the organization's services and products. The advisor is expected to balance multiple priorities while ensuring high-quality customer service and staying updated on HR laws and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information, resources, and practical guidance in response to members' HR-related questions.
  • Conducts customized online research in real-time and provides written documentation to support guidance given.
  • Balances multiple priorities by communicating with members through phone, email, and live chat.
  • Collaborates with other HR Knowledge Advisors by sharing knowledge and resources from specialty areas within HR.
  • Monitors changes in federal and state laws and regulations to provide accurate information to members.
  • Identifies trends in member interests and HR practices for planning and resource development.
  • Develops and updates content for the organization's website, including HR Samples, How-To-Guides, Q&As, and Toolkits.
  • Promotes the Knowledge Advisor service through participation in SHRM-sponsored events and marketing efforts.
  • Participates in item-writing for SHRM Certification and implements marketing promotions.
  • Partners with management to plan and implement strategic initiatives in support of the organization's goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in all areas of human resource management with practical, hands-on HR generalist experience required.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP certification required within one year of employment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service and innovative solutions to meet member needs.
  • Ability to understand and utilize various systems (CRM, ACD, WFM, QA).
  • Excellent internet researching skills and oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as an HR practitioner in different industries and environments (e.g., union, federal contracting).
