Responsibilities

  • Initiate own technical programs and make recommendations to management based on analysis of customer needs and technology trends.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and influence solutions in neighboring disciplines.
  • Recommend research programs for others in the group and assist in planning.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in areas of expertise and adjacent fields.
  • Influence technical direction of other parts of the department and act as a technical communicator across disciplines.
  • Conceive needed programs for self and others in the department.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, expenditures, and review quality of work performed.
  • Communicate results verbally and in manuscript form, representing the organization in technical areas.
  • Mentor less senior professionals in communication skills and technical knowledge transfer.
  • Demonstrate commitment to TQ concepts by leading successful implementation of Division and Department TQ Initiatives.

Requirements

  • Typically an advanced degree and experience - PhD with about 15 years, MS with 17 years, or BS with about 21 years of experience.
  • Previous experience with weapon system product realization and management of Life Extension Programs (LEPs).
  • Knowledge of NNSA Interagency Requirements and design/production processes for gas transfer systems.
  • Ability to produce well-structured written documents and operate Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to pass SRS Radiological Worker Training and travel domestically on occasion.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Candidates with an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred.
  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering experience/background is preferred.
  • Tritium Facility Operating and/or Technical Project experience is preferred.
