The AEC Assistant Director provides leadership within the Accessible Education Center (AEC) as a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the AEC Senior Director. This position is crucial for managing the effective operation of accommodations, ensuring compliance with institutional responsibilities, and overseeing outreach and data evaluation efforts of the AEC. The Assistant Director is responsible for the expanded implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of AEC's information management system, AEC Connect, which is designed to ensure that students with disabilities receive reasonable and appropriate accommodations efficiently. This role includes providing oversight, support, and leadership on best database practices to colleagues coordinating various accommodations through AEC Connect, such as testing, interpreting, notetaking, alternate formats, and notification letters to faculty. In addition to managing AEC Connect, the Assistant Director oversees the implementation of accommodations including testing accommodations, alternative formats, notetaking support, classroom relocation, and adaptive furniture. The Assistant Director serves as the AEC representative and liaison to faculty and other campus partners, which involves collaboration with the University Testing Center and conducting trainings on accessibility. This position also requires analyzing data related to AEC operations, compiling data through AIM, and utilizing data analysis programs like Excel, IBM Cognos, and Power BI to identify trends that influence department operations and strategic planning. Regular interaction with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and collaboration with key university partners is essential. The Assistant Director must demonstrate high levels of sensitivity and cultural awareness, work independently, and exercise sound judgment and creative problem-solving. The role requires professionalism and collegiality in a team environment, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible atmosphere in the office, and a commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
