About the position

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer to join their team in New York, NY or Raleigh, NC, starting in May or June 2025. This role involves creating electrical engineering designs, performing calculations, and coordinating with other design professionals under the supervision of experienced engineers. The position is part of a networking event aimed at connecting recent graduates with career opportunities in engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Create electrical engineering designs and contract documents under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer.
  • Design new modifications to existing medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems.
  • Design and document normal, standby, and emergency power distribution systems.
  • Complete electrical design calculations including system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations.
  • Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing review, site observations, and RFI responses.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Coordinate design solutions with other design professionals.
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and specifications under the supervision of a Sr. Electrical Engineer.
  • Perform assignments under the direction of a Sr. Electrical Engineer requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, AGI, SKM, ETAP, and AGI32).
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated and independent self-starter.
  • Previous relevant internship or professional experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
