About the position

The Aegis Air Intercept Controller (AIC) Trainer at General Dynamics Information Technology is responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting training programs for U.S. Navy Officers. This role involves traditional classroom instruction and tactical laboratory training, focusing on the Aegis Combat System and associated weapons systems. The trainer will serve as a senior instructor, providing subject matter expertise and supporting curriculum development for SCSTC courses.

Responsibilities

  • Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Capabilities and Limitations.
  • Reviews and analyzes U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and integrates and conceptualizes the execution of Doctrine.
  • Conducts dynamic assessment of sailors' abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures.
  • Observes and assesses contemporaries during practice and certification.
  • Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides.
  • Supports course reviews and curriculum updates; conducts training gap analysis.
  • Documents the training conducted and generates formal assessments.
  • Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers moderately complex training programs.
  • Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.
  • Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Maintains records of training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as an Aegis Combat System operator or technical manager.
  • Experience as a qualified Aegis Air Intercept Controller (AIC) is required.
  • One (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment.
  • Experience with Aegis Baseline 9 and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.
  • Secret clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with curriculum maintenance and writing learning objectives.
  • Ability to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
