About the position

The Aegis Air Intercept Controller (AIC) Trainer at General Dynamics is responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting training programs for U.S. Navy Officers in support of the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) in San Diego. This role involves traditional classroom instruction and tactical laboratory training, focusing on the tactical employment of the Aegis Combat System and associated weapons systems. The trainer will also provide subject matter expertise for curriculum development and assess the performance of sailors in operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct training and educational programs for U.S. Navy Officers.
  • Provide dynamic teaching and training on U.S. Navy Aegis capabilities and limitations.
  • Review and analyze U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System engineering capabilities and integrate operational doctrine.
  • Conduct assessments of sailors' abilities to comply with operational procedures and provide performance appraisals.
  • Prepare and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides for classroom teaching.
  • Support course reviews and curriculum updates, conducting training gap analysis.
  • Document training conducted and generate formal assessments of success.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and deliver training programs and materials in support of SCSTC objectives.
  • Establish and review course content and objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions and evaluate the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Maintain records of training activities and participant progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Seven years of experience as an Aegis Combat System operator or technical manager.
  • Experience as a qualified Aegis Air Intercept Controller (AIC).
  • One year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment.
  • Experience with Aegis Baseline 9 and/or Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a plus.
  • Ability to support training with extended periods on feet while instructing.
  • Secret clearance required.
