About the position

The AEL Program Principal Program Coordinator at the Houston-Galveston Area Council is responsible for planning and managing large-scale projects related to Adult Literacy & Education (AEL). This role involves overseeing a consortium of AEL providers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering programs effectively. The coordinator will lead a diverse team, develop action plans, and communicate project statuses to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop new and existing large-scale projects
  • Manage multiple projects, including those overseeing a consortium of 6 Adult Literacy & Education (AEL) providers
  • Develop action plans to streamline processes and achieve expected outcomes in a timely manner
  • Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board's directive and compliant with all federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Supervise a diverse team of individuals
  • Strategically adjust workload amongst team members
  • Effectively communicate unit and project status

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in project management
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple competing deadlines
  • Skill in allocating scarce resources, including human capital
  • Effective leadership, motivation, and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving capabilities

Nice-to-haves

  • Grant writing experience preferred
