About the position

As an Aerial Surveillance Pilot at the FBI, you will play a crucial role in supporting federal operations through aerial surveillance. Based at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Lakehurst, NJ, your primary responsibility will be to fly fixed-wing aircraft to conduct aerial surveys and assist in searches. This position requires a deep understanding of aerial surveillance techniques, including the use of thermographic sensors, photographic equipment, and other specialized devices. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining situational awareness and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of operations aimed at keeping our nation secure. Responsibilities

  • Pilot surveillance aircraft and/or augment pilot staffing on surveillance aircraft.
  • Conduct surveys, searches and other examinations, as needed, using sophisticated thermographic sensors, photographic equipment and other specialized devices.
  • Maintain sight of target(s) through the use of aerial surveillance equipment and technology regarding direction, route and movement of targeted groups or persons.

Requirements

  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Civilian Commercial Pilot License.
  • Second-Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must have instrument civilian fixed-wing pilot's rating and 500 hours or more total flight time; 350 hours in fixed-wing aircraft preferred.
  • Experience conducting surveys, searches and other aerial examinations using digital photographic equipment, night vision equipment, thermal sensors, and multi-spectral imagery is preferred.
  • Experience using maps, charts, and multi-sensor imagery to determine distance and location of targets.
