About the position

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Summer 2025 Aeronautical Engineer (MS/PhD Propulsion) Intern. This internship focuses on defining inlet geometries in CATIA v5, analyzing installed propulsion performance, and conducting Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations and analyses. The role is designed for students pursuing advanced degrees in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define inlet geometries in CATIA v5.
  • Analyze installed propulsion performance.
  • Conduct Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations and analyses.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of aerodynamics, compressible flow, and propulsion through coursework or related research.
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position requires a government security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest in propulsion flowpath design (inlets and nozzles).
  • Experience with a CAD tool is a plus.
  • Curiosity to explore details of the flowfield and suggest design improvements.
