About the position

The Aerospace Engineer position at NASA Glenn Research Center involves leading multidisciplinary teams in the design, development, and testing of liquid propulsion systems for human spaceflight applications. The role requires technical oversight, engineering judgment, and collaboration with external partners to advance aerospace propulsion technology. The engineer will manage projects, ensure safety and integration, and promote a culture of diversity and innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise technical leadership over multidisciplinary teams in design, development, integration, test, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of flight vehicle propulsion systems.
  • Provide technical oversight to aerospace engineering studies with elements from related disciplines such as systems engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
  • Manage engineering efforts for programs/projects involving human space flight propulsion systems and vehicles, including design and operational requirements definition, hardware testing, safety, integration, flight certification, and operations.
  • Serve as point of contact for project and program offices as the Center's engineering expert for development and design of complex aerospace liquid propulsion systems.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Specialized experience in aerospace systems development, production, or operation.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on aerospace hardware development phases such as design, build, test, evaluation, or operational planning.
  • Technical knowledge in disciplines such as propulsion, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, and engineering modeling/analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating with external partners on aerospace systems development.
  • Advanced degrees in relevant fields such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
