About the position

The Aerospace Guidance Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and verifying guidance algorithms for real-time trajectory optimization as part of the Human Landing Systems (HLS) project aimed at returning humans to the Moon. This role involves conducting trajectory analyses based on orbital mechanics principles and utilizing various methods to assess vehicle and stage performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement guidance algorithms for trajectory optimization.
  • Verify guidance algorithms for real-time applications.
  • Conduct trajectory analyses based on orbital mechanics principles.
  • Utilize Monte Carlo and design of experiments methods to assess performance.
  • Analyze trajectories for ascent, descent, rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.

Requirements

  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Ph.D. with a minimum of 4 years of experience, MS with at least 8 years of experience, or BS with at least 10 years of experience is typically required.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and/or Matlab, Matlab Simulink are essential.
  • Experience in trajectory optimization and numerical optimization is required.
  • Knowledge of optimal control techniques is necessary.
