About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Acromil LLC will oversee the purchasing department, ensuring effective procurement processes and inventory management to support production and new product development. This role involves strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and team development to achieve operational objectives in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activities of the purchasing department.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy and standard procurement policies and procedures.
  • Works with mills, distributors, and other suppliers to determine timing and availability of materials and supplies.
  • Reviews project specification documents to assist in bidding or procurement of materials.
  • Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.
  • Manages stock and project inventories and arranges for use or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Promotes the cash resources of the company while procuring items by being mindful of discounts and negotiations.
  • Ensures parts and materials are procured at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Establishes strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Identifies new suppliers and negotiates long-term supply agreements.
  • Fosters close working relationships with associated departments such as Estimating, Engineering, and Production.
  • Continually improves purchasing methods and drives down external spend.
  • Conducts supplier onsite visits as needed.
  • Carries out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and implements improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Five years of related experience and/or training, with two years in a managerial role.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Certified Purchasing Management is preferable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management best practices.
