About the position
The Application Engineer (AE) at Ansys plays a crucial role in partnering with customers in the Aerospace and Defense industries to implement and support Digital Mission Engineering (DME) software. This position focuses on driving growth and adoption of Ansys software by addressing real-world engineering problems, providing technical leadership, and collaborating with various teams to deliver integrated solutions. The AE will work closely with customers to understand their needs, develop system-level solutions, and contribute to the overall success of the sales team.
Responsibilities
- Work onsite with customers to implement software best practices and address real-world problems.
- Design/develop programming user interfaces, automation scripts, and integration code in support of customer applications.
- Lead/Assist in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
- Provide technical leadership on company product offerings and guidance on increasing sales opportunities.
- Work with customers to understand their system-level engineering requirements and articulate Ansys' value proposition.
- Develop and implement holistic system-level solutions by leveraging various technologies and disciplines.
- Collaborate closely with other Ansys Customer Excellence teams and customers to integrate high-fidelity analytical models in system-level solutions.
- Assist customers in performing analyses, solving problems, and integrating and deploying custom solutions.
- Collaborate with product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product features and test new releases of Ansys products.
- Contribute to consulting services and conduct training classes.
- Work in partnership with sales teams to strategize and execute sales approaches to maximize sales objectives.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in an engineering software environment (BS+2, MS+0).
- Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial software packages.
- Strong logical problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, fluent in English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
- Communication and collaboration skills necessary to work with other departments.
Nice-to-haves
- BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0 in an engineering software environment.
- Experience in engineering, simulation, and/or design processes.
- Programming experience in C, C++, C#, Java, MATLAB, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver engineering-related presentations.
