About the position

The Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer at Signia Aerospace will be responsible for conducting safety assessments and analyses to ensure the reliability and safety of aerospace systems. This role is crucial in supporting the Anaheim manufacturing operation and involves collaboration with engineering teams, mentorship of junior engineers, and continuous improvement of safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil safety assessments in accordance with ARP 4761 and military standards per MIL-STD-882E.
  • Conduct Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Common Mode Analyses to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to identify system safety requirements during development.
  • Review design and development documentation for safety-critical equipment and analyses conducted by colleagues.
  • Counsel and train less experienced safety engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities, ensuring accountability to team members and organizational leadership.
  • Advance and sustain skills in assigned areas to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Work closely with clientele, shareholders, and managerial leaders to develop and implement safety plans and strategies.
  • Proactively identify areas for safety enhancements and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving overall system safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace systems safety engineering or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficient in safety analysis techniques and tools (e.g., FHA, FMEA, FTA).
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with safety management systems (SMS) and familiarity with relevant software tools is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional or similar) is desirable.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $90,000-$150,000 depending on experience and education.
