About the position

The Aerospace Technology Instructor at Calhoun Community College is responsible for providing effective classroom and laboratory instruction in aerospace technology. The instructor will adhere to institutional guidelines and policies while promoting student learning and engagement. This role requires teaching at various times and formats, evaluating student progress, and maintaining accurate records. The instructor will also participate in professional development and contribute to curriculum development, ensuring alignment with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in aerospace technology.
  • Teach at varied times and places based on student demand, including day or evening classes.
  • Evaluate student progress according to institutional criteria.
  • Maintain accurate class records including grades and attendance.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi and program outlines.
  • Participate in scheduled in-service activities and professional development.
  • Provide academic and career advice to students.
  • Promote positive relationships with local businesses and industries.
  • Serve on committees to further institutional goals.
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree in aerospace, manufacturing technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of full-time work experience in aerospace or related structural assembly.
  • Demonstrated experience in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Proficient use of current educational technologies including Microsoft Office and willingness to teach web-based courses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Career Technical Education, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Industrial Maintenance in large facilities.
  • Knowledge of quality programs such as ISO and Six Sigma.
  • Successful teaching experience in Advanced Manufacturing.
  • Experience with course management software like Blackboard.
