About the position

The AF DCGS Network Engineer role at General Dynamics Information Technology involves performing technical analysis and system life-cycle approaches to support the Department of Defense's mission. The engineer will focus on system integration, architecture issues, and network security accreditation for an evolving open architecture system, contributing to Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) architectures and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Define and support the design, development, and implementation of IT solutions through new and existing applications and systems architecture.
  • Modify or adapt existing designs as necessary.
  • Review IT requirements and business processes; code, test, debug, and implement software solutions.
  • Deliver IT change within the business through project-based roles.
  • Design and develop IT architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with enterprise architecture direction and standards.
  • Take responsibility for technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications.
  • Develop specifications for new products/services, applications, and service offerings.
  • Assess compatibility and integration of proposed products/services to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements

  • Experience with AF DCGS mission, operations, and capabilities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture, data flows, and site capabilities.
  • Familiarity with acquisition processes (1067, security, boarding activities).
  • Understanding of AF DCGS implementation requirements.
  • Networking experience including OSI model, protocols, data rates, and circuit ordering.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • BS/BA degree with 10 years of experience preferred; additional years of experience may substitute for formal education.
