About the position

The SCS Lead Maintenance Technician position at KBR involves providing essential maintenance and repair services in support of the U.S. Air Force at the Kyogamisaki and Shariki Communications Sites in Japan. This role is critical to ensuring the operational readiness and functionality of various systems and equipment, including HVAC, refrigeration units, food service equipment, and general facility maintenance. The technician will work under limited supervision to inspect, diagnose, and perform emergency and preventive maintenance on a wide range of equipment and systems. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing mechanical locks, inspecting fire extinguishers, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining the site’s material handling equipment and participating in the Morale Welfare and Recreational (MWR) schedule. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to safety and quality in all maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform emergency/preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems and other equipment.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on assigned HVAC units, power generation equipment, and structures.
  • Maintain and operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and manlifts.
  • Conduct corrosion control measures on site structures including fences and gates.
  • Inspect and maintain commercial kitchen hood and duct exhaust systems.
  • Repair and maintain the site's mechanical locks and signage.
  • Complete and review maintenance records and perform cleanup activities.
  • Drive company vehicles for mail pick-up and delivery runs to Misawa AB, Japan.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one prior to deployment.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days of arrival.
  • Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, controls, and components.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
