About the position

Korean American Family Services (KFAM) is seeking a Bilingual Administrative Coordinator for its AFFI program, which is the only Foster and Adoption agency in the nation that specializes in recruiting, training, and supporting Asian Pacific Islander (API) resource (foster) parents and adoptive parents. The primary goal of the AFFI program is to provide culturally appropriate homes for API and other children in need, while also focusing on child abuse prevention and intervention to promote healthy families. This full-time position will be under the supervision of the AFFI Program Director and will involve a variety of administrative and support tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the program. The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for responding to inquiry calls and emails, providing information to prospective families, and facilitating the resource and adoptive family application process. This role will also involve maintaining documentation and supporting social workers in various tasks such as family training, home studies, placement, case management, and supervised visitation. Administrative duties will include managing databases, inputting data, filing, accounting, and organizing reports and case files. Additionally, the coordinator will assist in outreach and event coordination, maintain a pleasant office atmosphere, and ensure that office equipment and supplies are well-managed. Auditing and editing case records and reports for social workers will also be part of the responsibilities, along with any other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiry calls and emails and provide information to prospective families.
  • Facilitate the resource and adoptive family application process and maintain documentation.
  • Support social workers in family training, home studies, placement, case management, and supervised visitation.
  • Perform administrative duties including managing databases, inputting data, filing, accounting, and organizing reports and case files.
  • Assist in outreach and event coordination.
  • Maintain a pleasant office atmosphere, including office equipment and supplies.
  • Audit and edit case records and reports for all social workers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in API languages: Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, or Vietnamese preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, child development, education, social work-related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an administrative assistant preferred.
  • Experience in foster care, adoptions, or DCFS is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills necessary.
  • Strong ties to the API community and/or experience working with API immigrant populations is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance, and be willing to drive regularly.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs regularly.

  • Strong ties to the API community and/or experience working with API immigrant populations is a plus.
