About the position

The Matian Firm is seeking a dedicated Immigration Paralegal to join our Affirmative Asylum team in Los Angeles, CA. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $62,758.14 to $70,579.70 per year. The successful candidate will report directly to the Affirmative Asylum Attorney and will play a crucial role in managing and supporting our clients through the asylum process. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service and case management skills, along with a solid understanding of immigration court procedures, affirmative asylum applications, and bond proceedings. As an Immigration Paralegal, you will be involved in all aspects of our court cases, which includes analyzing case documents, preparing affirmative asylum applications for filing with the Asylum Office, and preparing clients for their asylum interviews. You will oversee cases using our case management and billing systems to ensure that both internal and external deadlines are met. Regular updates to our case management system will be required, including maintaining client information, case tracking, and communications. It is essential to keep clients informed about the progress of their cases and assist attorneys and team members in managing the caseload effectively. This position requires a proactive approach to completing daily assignments and communicating case progress on a weekly basis. Responsibilities

  • Analyze case documents and prepare affirmative asylum applications for filing with the Asylum Office.
  • Prepare clients for their asylum interview.
  • Oversee cases through utilization of case management and billing systems to meet both internal and external deadlines.
  • Follow internal office procedures.
  • Make regular updates to our case management system including client information, case tracking information, and client communications.
  • Maintain electronic files and documents to document all activity on behalf of clients.
  • Ensure that clients are kept informed on the progress of their cases.
  • Assist attorneys and other team members to manage caseload.
  • Complete daily assignments and communicate case progress on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of affirmative asylum experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Case Management Softwares, such as Clio and Airtable, preferred.
