About the position

The Affordable Housing Asset Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to preserve and enhance the value and condition of affordable rental housing properties. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while meeting asset performance goals. The Asset Manager will oversee a portfolio of multi-family properties, engage with internal and external partners, and contribute to the mission of ending homelessness through effective asset management and strategic oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Provide long-term strategic oversight and guidance on operations for a portfolio of approximately 16 multi-family properties.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance of the portfolio and communicate potential operational risks to management.
  • Review and oversee periodic investor reporting and budget benchmarking for property operations.
  • Evaluate market trends and forecast cash flow for the portfolio.
  • Lead loan restructuring requests and coordinate with cross-functional teams on new construction and acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with LIHTC and other regulatory requirements across the portfolio.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including lenders and investors.
  • Deliver low-income housing tax credits to investors and manage tax capital accounts for potential exit taxes.
  • Review insurance policy requirements and coordinate claims management for the portfolio.
  • Ensure timely submission of welfare tax exemption applications for qualified assets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in multi-family compliance or real estate asset management.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in the affordable housing industry.
  • Strong skills in program development, policy, and procedures.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet tools and word processing for analysis and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with developers specializing in tax credit properties.
  • Certifications related to affordable housing or asset management.
