About the position

The Leasing Consultant serves as the sales representative for the community, responsible for engaging with potential and existing residents, conducting property tours, processing rental applications, securing lease agreements, and assisting with lease renewals. This role requires adherence to Fair Housing Laws and company policies while striving to meet client expectations and financial objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with potential and existing residents to assist with property tours and provide accurate information about apartments.
  • Process rental applications and secure lease agreements from qualified individuals.
  • Assist with lease renewals as required.
  • Maintain positive communication with applicants, residents, vendors, clients, and guests.
  • Ensure occupancy levels meet owner and budget expectations through professional leasing techniques.
  • Assist with advertising and marketing strategies for the apartment community.
  • Maintain appropriate resident files and ensure confidentiality and integrity of documents.
  • Report any injuries, illnesses, or property damage in a timely manner.
  • Assist residents with maintenance requests and ensure timely completion of these requests.
  • Enforce community rules and regulations consistently and fairly.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD programs, USDA-Rural Development, and HOME Funds.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in Residential Property Management.
  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate required; college degree in a related field preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, Google Apps, and property management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospitality, retail, sales, or customer service.
