About the position

The Affordable Housing Originator at NBT Bank is responsible for driving the growth of the company by originating residential mortgage applications, with a focus on Affordable Housing products and programs. This role involves developing and executing business plans to meet sales goals, maintaining relationships with non-profit housing partners, and coordinating product education and training sessions. The position requires collaboration with customers and various stakeholders throughout the mortgage process, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with non-profit housing partners in a designated territory.
• Originate residential mortgage loans, focusing on Affordable Housing products, according to established policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in the development and reporting of CRA-related loan tracking and business development activities.
• Coordinate and compile Residential Mortgage Lending for Mock CRA Exam submissions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree in business or related discipline and two years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Two years of Residential Lending experience preferred.
• One or more years of experience working with non-profit housing partners and Federal/State grant programs preferred.
• Complete understanding of Mortgage Banking loan policy, products, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of current compliance and regulatory guidelines with an approved NMLS number.
• Knowledge of Mortgage Banking underwriting application systems such as MortgageBot and Mortgage Builder.

Nice-to-haves
