About the position

The AFNORTH/A9M Information Security Analyst Senior is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the cybersecurity operations for AFNORTH/A9 Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) training systems (DTS) and their operational environments. This position requires a deep understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the ability to manage its security aspects effectively. The analyst will utilize the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) or other designated reporting tools to conduct thorough reporting and compliance assessments. In this role, the ISSO will work closely with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information System Owner (ISO) to develop and update essential documentation related to physical, logical, and access authorizations. Key tasks include assessing Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM) reports, conducting compliance scans, and implementing system hardening measures through Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). The analyst will also evaluate the security implications of system configuration changes and monitor compliance across authorization boundaries. The ISSO will coordinate with site ISSOs as the AFNORTH/A9M Lead-ISSO, ensuring continuous monitoring of systems and RMF documentation to maintain compliance with security authorization packages. Responsibilities also include auditing system access and utilization, preparing reports on security safeguards, and conducting security impact analyses for system changes. The role demands a proactive approach to managing security features and procedures, ensuring they are restored and functioning correctly after any recovery processes. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for maintaining current security documentation and providing technical and security training relevant to their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day cybersecurity operations for AFNORTH/A9 Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) training systems.
  • Manage Risk Management Framework (RMF) security aspects of information systems.
  • Develop and update physical, logical, and access authorization documentation.
  • Assess Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM) reports and conduct compliance scans.
  • Implement system hardening through Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Monitor compliance of approved interconnections across authorization boundaries.
  • Coordinate with site ISSOs as the AFNORTH/A9M Lead-ISSO.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring of systems and RMF documentation for compliance.
  • Assess systems for cybersecurity vulnerabilities using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Audit system access and utilization using SPLUNK SEIM and notify ISSM of anomalies.
  • Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems.
  • Conduct security impact analysis for requested system changes or modifications.
  • Coordinate system configuration/change management documentation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features are functioning correctly.
  • Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media.
  • Prepare, review, and update authorization packages using eMASS or other reporting means.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in information security or cybersecurity roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • IAT Level II or IAM Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).
  • Familiarity with ACAS, STIG Compliance Tools, SIEM (SPLUNK), and eMASS or Xacta.

Nice-to-haves
