About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position at Group W focuses on AFSIM, EADSIM, and other models to analyze U.S. military planning activities. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in campaign, mission, and engagement-level models, simulations, and various operations research techniques. This role requires a strong analytical background, particularly in advanced analytical, mathematical, or statistical techniques, including regression analysis, computer modeling, and simulation. The analyst will serve as a senior warfighting analyst, responsible for developing and executing analytical models and methods that support warfighting analyses from engagement through campaign levels. The position involves creating mission and campaign-level representations, databases, and analyses of U.S., allied, and adversary forces executing warfighting concepts of operation. Additionally, the analyst will provide guidance to other operations research analysts, scientists, or engineers on the most suitable techniques for specific problems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mastery-level skills in advanced analytical, mathematical, or statistical techniques related to statistical analysis, parametric and non-parametric analysis, computer modeling, simulation, decision theory, mathematical programming, and regression analysis.
  • Serve as a senior warfighting analyst responsible for developing and executing analytical models and methods that support warfighting analyses from engagement through campaign levels.
  • Develop and execute mission and campaign-level representations, databases, and analyses of U.S., allied, and adversary forces executing warfighting concepts of operation.
  • Advise other operations research analysts, scientists, or engineers on techniques best suited for tasked problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Operations Research, Physics, Engineering, or an applied Science Discipline OR master's degree with 5 years' experience in lieu of Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 5+ years' experience OR master's degree with: 2 years' experience performing engagement/mission-level analysis using models such as AFSIM, Brawler, or EADSIM.
  • 3 years' experience in the analyses of management or operational problems, with the ability to formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in operations research, Physics, Engineering, or an applied Science discipline.
  • 5 or more years' experience performing engagement/mission-level analysis using models such as AFSIM, Brawler, or EADSIM.
  • 10 or more years' experience in the analyses of management or operational problems, with the ability to formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Prior military experience at the theater or joint task force level conducting planning or performing operational assessments; experience with developing R scripts for pre-processing, post-processing, data analytics and data visualization.
  • Completion of professional military education at or above MEL-4.
