About the position

The Advent School is seeking enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our after-school program as After-School Art Instructors for the 2024-25 school year. This part-time, contract position is designed for those who are passionate about art and education, specifically targeting children in the Early Childhood Center through Second Grade. The role involves teaching a variety of art classes, including but not limited to Clay, Comics, Digital Design, Wearable Designs, Crafting, Fabric, Painting, and Up-cycled Jewelry. Instructors are encouraged to bring their own ideas and creativity to the program, fostering a love for art among young learners. The commitment for this position runs from immediately until mid-June 2019, with classes scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM, and possibly Fridays from 12:15 PM to 5:15 PM. Instructors will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, managing classroom dynamics, and building positive relationships with students. This role is ideal for individuals who have a background in teaching art or working with children in a camp or educational setting, and who are eager to inspire the next generation of artists.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Education and experience as an After-School/Camp Counselor/Teacher with elementary-aged children.
• At least one year of experience teaching art-based activities to 4 to 8-year-olds.
• Strong group management and relationship-building skills.
