About the position

EmBe is dedicated to uplifting the potential in children, women, and families through empowering opportunities. As an After School Assistant Teacher, you play a crucial role in maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of the children we serve. Your responsibilities will include assisting the site coordinator with site management, planning and leading activities, arts and crafts, curriculum implementation, meal supervision, skill development, and playtime. You will serve as a positive role model for both staff and children, reinforcing positive guidance techniques and modeling appropriate language and behavior. This position offers opportunities for professional development and growth, allowing you to enhance your skills while making a meaningful impact in the lives of children. The role is designed to be flexible, accommodating school schedules, and is available for both part-time and full-time commitments. EmBe operates from 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, ensuring that there are no night, weekend, or holiday shifts required. This summer position has the potential to extend beyond the summer months, providing a stable opportunity for those passionate about working with children. Responsibilities

  • Assist the site coordinator with site management and activities.
  • Plan and lead arts and crafts sessions.
  • Implement curriculum and supervise meals.
  • Support skill development and playtime activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children and staff.
  • Reinforce positive guidance techniques and model appropriate behavior.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a childcare setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • General knowledge of child growth and development.
  • Ability to lift 20 to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Minimum age of 14 years.
  • No substantiated history of child abuse and neglect.
  • No felony conviction record within the last 5 years.
  • Not listed on the sex offender registry.
