About the position
The After School Care Assistant at Miami Montessori School plays a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children after school. This part-time position focuses on fostering a joyful atmosphere where children can engage in various activities, develop their interests, and socialize with peers. The assistant will support the continuity of the children's educational experience by ensuring a structured yet relaxed environment that encourages learning and mutual respect.
Responsibilities
- Assist children in caring for their environment
- Provide a safe play area for children
- Provide snacks and drinks for children
- Monitor toy safety and report to the director of ASC if any of them becomes unsafe or unusable
- Implement first aid procedures when necessary, ensuring a safe learning environment
- Report any and all accidents at once by filling out the 'Incident Report' form
- At the end of the day, straighten the After School Care Shelf
- Turn on dishwasher at end of day if full
- Wipe off tables with disinfectant cloths at end of day
- Foster a positive learning atmosphere that encourages curiosity and confidence
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Background check, both BCI and FBI, is mandatory
- Certification in first aid/CPR is mandatory
- Knowledge of the Montessori method and philosophy is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with children effectively
- Classroom management skills in working with students ranging from 3-12 years of age
