About the position

The After School Care Director is responsible for managing the after school care program under general supervision. This role involves providing quality supervision for students, assisting with academic and behavioral issues, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The director will engage in planning and executing activities, monitoring student behavior, and performing clerical duties to maintain records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and executing instruction and supervision.
• Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students; encourages self-esteem and independence.
• Monitors student behavior and helps maintain discipline in the classroom; records time out and in-class suspension.
• Assists students with learning; reinforces and clarifies instructions; provides one-on-one assistance as needed.
• Maintains standardized records and documentation concerning the progress of students.
• Performs general housekeeping duties in maintaining an orderly classroom.
• Performs various clerical duties as needed, including maintaining records of student progress and checking daily attendance.
• Feeds students and assists with tasks they are unable to perform for themselves.
• Participates in staff development workshops.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Ability to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, and equipment for children with special needs.
• Ability to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to compare and judge observable characteristics of data, people, or things.
• Ability to communicate effectively in standard English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to utilize mathematical formulas and perform basic arithmetic operations.
