About the position

The After School Coach - Chess Instructor position at The Knight School Denver involves providing targeted chess instruction to children from Pre-K to middle school using a proprietary teaching curriculum. This part-time role requires no prior chess knowledge and offers flexible hours, typically ranging from 6 to 15 hours per week, with the potential for full-time status based on availability and need.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the schedule provided by the City Coach, arriving at assigned locations for set-up at least 15 minutes before class starts.
• Set up and run a video lesson produced by Dr. David Brooks, supervising in-class student tournaments.
• Commit to the full academic year, running approximately mid-August through May, with summer hours available if desired.
• Travel to assigned locations and plan travel times to account for school zones and rush-hour traffic.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent, with some college study preferred.
• Ability to pass the TKS background check and any school-required background check.
• Reliable transportation to cover multiple classes at various locations within a week.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
